Weekly Episode Review: Inu X Boku SS (Anime Series - 7th episode)

In this week’s episode of Inu X Boku SS, the apartment complex is attacked by a strange intruder who manages to get inside the building. This triggers the security system set in place, which will get rid of the monster by morning, but only if the barrier is kept intact. What this means for the residents is staying behind closed doors, and leaving them closed – opening a door or window results in the barrier being weakened. Miketsukami warns Ririchiyo that for her own sake, she should keep away from the intruders.

This leaves all the residents trapped for hours in different parts of the building, forced to keep themselves occupied until morning. Ririchiyo is alone with Mikestukami, and sees this as the perfect chance to express how grateful she is to him, but she has to work up the courage to so first!

Overall, this episode was quite predictable and quite anti-climactic. With the exception of Karuta dealing with her extreme appetite, none of the scenarios the residents find themselves in are very interesting. There was an excellent opportunity to deepen the bond between Ririchiyo and Miketsukami, but she spends a good portion of her time struggling internally to let her thoughts come out in a friendly way.

This episode also strays from the formula it has been following for the last few episodes by exploring one of the side characters.

Episode Rating: 5.5/10

Nothing interesting really happens; there is no plot development, no character development. The only redeeming features are the few comedic moments thrown in. Let’s hope next week proves to be more interesting.
